| 2012 PPAC Leadership CDR Paul Jung will continue to serve as PPAC chair for 2012. We'd like to thank CAPT Susan Lukacs for her service as Vice Chair in 2011 and welcome LCDR Will Sherman as Vice Chair for 2012. We encourage all medical officers to consider serving on a PPAC Subcommittee (you can see the current Subcommittee rosters at http://usphs-ppac.net/AboutPPAC.htm). We have no doubt that 2012 will be a very busy year for the Corps and PPAC and this is a direct way that medical officers can participate in the decisions that affect the service and your career. PPAC response to the National Prevention Strategy Follow the links to see the National Prevention Strategy and the PPAC response to the NPS. Thank you to the numerous officers from the medical category who contributed to this important document. PPAC Awards: 2012 call for nominations Please see the call for nominations for our annual PPAC awards. If you have any questions, please contact our Awards Subcommittee Chair, CDR Alicia Vantran. Volunteers needed to staff recruiting booths The Division of Commissioned Corps Personnel and Readiness (DCCPR) has funded contractors to staff booths for recruitment at several medical conferences in 2012. However, although there will be a recruiter at the booth, they would like Corps officers to be present at the booth to answer additional questions. Opportunities to perform clinical work There are opportunities for CC Medical Officers to provide short periods of clinical care at sites within HHS. Even though there is no specific number of hours for clinical time for Medical Officers anymore, I periodically receive notice of clinical practice opportunities. Please contact RADM Helminiak if you have an interest in these opportunities. Memorandum of Understanding between VA and USPHS for clinical privileges for PHS Officers |
